In 2006, Clark received a Presidential Scholarship to the University of St. Thomas School of Law in Minneapolis, Minnesota. During his matriculation, he was appointed to the Committee on Racial Discrimination and Acts of Bias, thus changing the policy regarding racial discrimination. He also interned at the Minneapolis Department of Civil Rights and participated in cases before the Minnesota Human Rights Commission. Clark received the University of St. Thomas Mission Award for Excellence in Scholarly Engagement and Societal Reform. Upon graduation from law school, he opened his law practice in Harvey, Illinois. While he had many other financially profitable opportunities in front of him, his mission was clear: earn a law degree; return to Harvey and make a difference.
In 2012, Clark received the prestigious Chicago Volunteer Legal Services Distinguished Service Award for his commitment to pro bono work and mission to provide equal justice to all. Additionally, he received the 28th Annual Living Black History Award for his personal contributions to the Harvey community; the selfless helping of others; and leadership through service.
Even though his family moved from Harvey many years ago, Clark remained a Harvey resident. He believed that his life is and always has been a calling to serve others and Harvey is one of the best places to do it. While there are many places throughout the world that need assistance, he believed that if everyone worked to change their corner of the world, then the world would be a better place for all. According to Clark, his corner of the world is Harvey, Illinois.
As a community advocate, Clark successfully ran for the alderman seat in Harvey's third ward. He promised to provide transparency, oversight, and accountability to Harvey residents. Additionally, he was concerned about Harvey's lack of basic city services, water, and financial instability.
Alderman Christopher J. Clark is a zealous community advocate. He believes that everyone deserves to have a safe community, quality schools, and financial opportunity. He is a professional and experienced businessman who can work with other civic and business leaders to make things happen. It is his life’s ambition to see Harvey become a leader in all aspects of community, providing the quality life that all Harvey citizens deserve.
